Lake Wee-Ma-Tuk

Near Peoria, Illinois

Lake Wee-Ma-Tuk is a 154-acre lake located just southwest of Peoria, Illinois. Visitors and residents can enjoy eight miles of picturesque shoreline that has been used for hundreds of years to hunt, raise crops, and mine. Over 40 lakes are lying in Wee-Ma-Tuk Hills, with Lake Wee-Ma-Tuk being the largest.

Amenities at Lake Wee-Ma-Tuk

The Wee-Ma-Tuk Country Club was opened in 1965 and was one of the first developments in the area. Their 18-hole course was designed by Robert L. Jordan and features 6,486 yards of golf.

There is also a restaurant located inside the club. A tobogganing run, ice-skating area, and snowmobile trail are provided for residents and can be enjoyed when the weather turns cold.

Fishing is one of Lake Wee-Ma-Tuk’s sweet spots. Anglers report this lake as excellent for fishing with catches of yellow bass, warmouth, green sunfish, flathead catfish, redear sunfish, bluegill, black crappie, white crappie, muskellunge, largemouth bass, channel catfish, and walleye.

Boating is permitted on this lake with minimum restrictions. Water skiing, tubing, wakeboarding, pontooning, and power boating are favorites. The many coves and slews of Lake Wee-Ma-Tuk are fun to explore via canoe or kayak.
